Siding, window trim, and repaint on a 1950s ranch

A single-story ranch with failed lap siding on the sun-facing wall, soft sills at two windows, and paint that had chalked through. The scope replaced the damaged wall, repaired the sills, and repainted the whole house in one color plan.

Where it started

Paint was peeling on the south wall and the homeowner had found soft wood under two window sills. They wanted to know whether the whole house needed new siding or only the damaged section.

Scope of work

Removed and replaced fiber cement lap siding on the south wall; other walls were sound and kept
Rebuilt two window sills and the trim below them, with new flashing and drip caps
Washed, scraped, and spot-primed the remaining walls
Two finish coats on body and trim; garage door and fascia included

Repair vs replace: Only the south wall needed new siding; replacing all four would have added cost without changing the result.
Color: Samples were tested on the sunny and shaded sides before the final choice.
